About the S³ Pacific Music Awards

Who Organises The S³ Pacific Music Awards?

In 2004 the Pacific Music Awards Committee (PMAC) was formed to realise a vision and the result was the resounding success of the inaugural Pacific Music Awards that debuted at Pasifika Festival in March 2005. Encouraged by the success of the 2005 Pacific Music Awards and galvanised by the Pacific music industry who warmly welcomed the establishment of the Awards, PMAC has set about developing the infrastructure to make this an annual event and a significnt highlight of the New Zealand Music Industry calendar.

The Pacific Music Awards Committee became a Charitable Trust that will organise and host the awards. The Trustees include:

  • Rev. Mua Strickson-Pua - Chaplain
  • Sina Moore
  • Tom Etuata - CEO, Pacific Media Network
  • Petrina George - Manager, Member Services, APRA
  • Noma Sio - Pacific Island Community Liaison, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra

The Trust also works with the Recording Industry Association (RIANZ), particularly in regards to the presentation of the NZ Music Award, Best Pacific Music Album. This experienced group of people are culturally and commercially aware and are driven by the Trust’s simple objective:

"To create and manage an event that acknowledges the success of Pacific artists, celebrates and promotes excellence in Pacific music and encourages young Pacific musicians to aspire to a higher level of achievement."
