Diggy Dupé is a prominent figure in Aotearoa's hip-hop scene. He is known for his authentic storytelling and deep connection to Central Auckland. His music vividly portrays the streets of Grey Lynn, delving into themes of identity, gentrification, and culture.
He began his musical journey in high school, creating tracks with his cousin using basic equipment like a SingStar microphone and a Motorola phone. This early experimentation led to freestyling at house parties and participating in rap battles, laying the foundation for his future career.
In 2017, Diggy released his debut album, "K.O.T.I.C" (Kids of the Inner City), showcasing his raw songwriting talent and making a significant impact on the local hip-hop scene. He followed this with the EP "Island Time" in 2018, which earned him a nomination for Best Hip-Hop Act at the Aotearoa Music Awards.
His second album, "That's Me, That's Team," released in 2020, further solidified his reputation, earning multiple award nominations, including the Pacific Music Award for Best Pacific Hip Hop Artist and the Aotearoa Music Award for Best Hip Hop Artist.
In 2021, Diggy contributed to the soundtrack of the television series "The Panthers," collaborating with Troy Kingi and producer choicevaughan. The soundtrack received critical acclaim, winning several awards, including the APRA Screen Award for Best Original Music in a Series, Best Producer for "The Panthers OST", and Best Pacific Music Video for "Ain't The Same at the Pacific Music Awards.
His 2022 EP, "Hues," marked a new direction in his sound, focusing more intently on the creative journey and process. Diggy has been a core member of the Auckland hip-hop community throughout his career, collaborating with artists like Rizvan, MELODOWNZ, and SWIDT.
His Niuean heritage and upbringing deeply influence Diggy's work in Central Auckland. He strives to incorporate his culture into his music, using it as a learning tool and a symbolic ode to his heritage.

In 2024, Diggy Dupé received significant recognition at the Pacific Music Awards, winning Best Pacific Male Artist for his work on "We The City" and Best Pacific Hip Hop Artist also for "We The City".

In December 2024, Diggy released his latest single, "Request Line," produced by choicevaughan and Astro. The song showcases his evolving artistry and commitment to his craft.

Diggy Dupé continues to be a significant voice in New Zealand's music scene. He uses his platform to tell intricate stories about human nature and his community's experiences. His dedication to his craft and culture has made him a respected figure in the industry.
