2022 PMA OMAC SHOWCASE
The Pacific Music Awards Trust proudly presented the PMA OMAC Showcase on Saturday 3 December 2022. This will be the 5th live showcase the PMAs have co-presented with Auckland Council and Otara Music Arts Centre (OMAC). This year’s showcase will feature past and present recipients of the Phillip Fuemana Most Promising Artist Award: Jarna, Poetik and GiantKilla; alongside The Proud S.A. All Starz and up and coming artists from Stand Up Stand Out (SUSO) Aaliyah Magalogo and Crispin Manikkam.
GiantKilla’s performance was his official 10th anniversary celebration for his debut album, which was recorded at OMAC and influenced by the community. His set also celebrated a decade since winning the Phillip Fuemana Most Promising Artist Award
We celebrated the 2022 Pacific Music Awards theme of ‘Connection, Collaboration, Community’. The showcase provided us with the chance to honour this theme – connecting through music, collaborating on stage and coming together as a community to celebrate Pacific music.

CHRISTCHURCH HIP HOP SUMMIT - RnB SHOWCASE
Following provided support to contribute to performers for the RnB Showcase:
2022 saw the return of the Christchurch Hip Hop Summit, with a full programme of events announced to take place 9 – 15 October 2022. The Pacific Music Awards Trust collaborated with the Summit team, to support PMA artists be the lead performers for the RnB Showcase. With so much focus on hip hop, a key element of this was to profile RnB and to do that by showcasing our PMA artists and connecting them with local Christchurch artists – providing encouragement and support for the RnB genre. The featured artists were: Sam V, TJ Taotua and Chong-Nee, who were each past and present PMA award winners.
The programme was jam packed and included panel sessions, live performances and demonstrations. The Hip Hop Summit team were very active online – sharing photos and live streaming content from the various events each day – allowing connection to those outside of Christchurch. We look forward to an annual working relationship and providing support for future summits.
