News release: December 2018
The Pacific Music Awards Trust are happy to announce that NZ On Air have confirmed a new singles funding round for Pacific artists.
NZ On Air’s New Music Pasifika focus round, is a great opportunity for our Pacific artists to secure financial support to record and release new music.
Following additional government funding provided to NZ On Air – funds have been allocated to this specific singles funding round for Pasifika artists. Key objectives for this fund is to provide more diverse local content; reach under-served audiences and increase the amount of quality Pasifika music content available via radio and online music services.
This one off round will provide funding for approx 12 Pasifika artists to professionally record a single, produce a video and promote/publicise the song; with the aim to achieve radio airplay, plays on streaming services and video platforms.
Each grant is for up to $8,000 – with artists expected to contribute 20%, i.e. $2,000 themselves towards the total project.
Applications for the New Music Pasifika round are due by 31 January – and all applicants need to submit a completed application form and an mp3 of the song (demo or finished)
Further information and full guidelines, along with the application form are available on NZ On Air’s website: https://www.nzonair.govt.nz/funding/apply-music-funding/#new-music-pasifika
